- Description
- This canvas bag and others like it were used by suffrage volunteers selling copies of the Woman’s Journal. The Woman’s Journal was founded by Lucy Stone in 1870 and became the newspaper of the American Woman Suffrage Association and later the National American Woman Suffrage Association. It covered topics such as woman’s suffrage debates and women’s rights convention notes, and featured contributors including Louisa May Alcott and William Lloyd Garrison. Woman’s Journal ceased publication in 1931.
