Scope and Contents
Comprise of materials created from characters who generally appeared in comic books or comic strips. Some of the earliest characters include Blondie (1930), Dick Tracy (1931), L'il Abner and Daisy Mae (1934), Little Lulu (1935), Nancy (1938), and Superman (1938). Most of the paper dolls are created from characters who were created in the 1940s including Brenda Starr (1940), Archie, Betty, and Veronica (1942), Patsy Walker (1944), Katy Keene (1945), Millie the Model (1945), Hedy DeVine (1947), and Polly Pigtails (1946). A smaller number of paper dolls are of characters created later in the century such as Sugar and Spike (1956), Josie and the Pussycats (1963), Doonesbury (1970), and Vicki Valentine (1985). Materials are arranged in alphabetical order.
