- Lidya Buzio moved to New York City in 1967 and began to see a rhythm in the movement of the rooftops of the Manhattan skyline, which she translated onto the surfaces of her pots. In Roofscape Vessel she achieves a sense of depth by slanting the lines on the façades of the buildings and tilting the roofs. Buzio also creates three- dimensional space by raising two of the rooftop gutters off the surface of the pot. The pastel colors of the evening sky hide any signs of the chaos of city life and create a calm, peaceful atmosphere.
