- Subseries 2.3: News Photos contains 583 35mm film black and white photographic negatives depicting events from Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah between the years 1976 and 1980. The majority of negatives are from 1976. Events depicted include the Dominiquez – Escalante Bicentennial Expedition or Ride; Window Rock Demonstration; Women's Conference, Shiprock; the Navajo Community College Health Conference; the Window Rock Parade or Carnival or Powwow, 1976 and 1977; Miss Navajo Contest, Window Rock; Shiprock Fair; National Indian Youth Council v. Adrus or the Burnham lawsuit; Kaibab v. Desertsun. There may be content within this subseries that is considered culturally sensitive.
