Scope and Content Note
This subseries contains audiocassette recordings of music, oral history interviews, and informal interviews conducted and collected by Floyd Levin at various events such as birthday parties, funerals and performances. It is the largest subseries within the series. Featured artists include Louis Armstrong, "Barney" (Albany Leon) Bigard, "Wild" Bill Davison and his wife, Anne Stewart Davison, Jane Jarvis, "Rosy" (James) McHargue, Lyle "Spud" Murphy, and Spiegle Willcox, among others. Many of the interviews collected by Floyd Levin were first recorded from radio broadcasts such as the BBC. The large majority of the materials were first recorded from the early 1920s to the late 1990s and are arranged in rough alphabetical order by artist last name.
