Sponsor
The collection was acquired with assistance from the Eugene Meyer Foundation. Elihu and Susan Rose and the Save America's Treasures program, provided funds to stabilize, organize, store, and create digital surrogates of some of the negatives. Processing and encoding funded by a grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources.
Extent
1 Item
Medium
Silver gelatin on cellulose acetate film sheet, 8" x 10".
Condition
Extensive channeling, blue tint, and acetate odor. Layers separating severely. Some negatives are blue because the gelatin anti-curl layer on the base side of the negative contains an anti-halation dye [which] decolorizes during processing but will reappear in the acidic environment of aged acetate negatives. The blue is typical of Agfa/Ansco negatives, while a pink discoloration is typically seen on Kodak negatives.
